About Our Pastor

Pastor: Rev. Dr. Beverlee Bell

I believe the Church of Jesus Christ is to be a mission outpost reaching out to people with the Love of Christ. As United Methodists it is important to try, as our founder John Wesley emphasised, to keep in balance our worship of God and our personal growth in Christ with our caring for those struggling with various life issues and our focus on issues of peace and justice in our world.

I try and live my life based on the response of Jesus to the question what is the most important law of God: Love God with all your being and Love your Neighbor as Yourself.  I believe as we Love our Neighbor, we are expressing our Love of Christ.

I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and went into the business world for nine years.  I then attended Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. and after receiving my Masters of Divinity came back to Iowa to serve the United Methodist Churches in Melbourne and Rhodes and then Hope in Marshalltown.  I served the Slater and Sheldahl churches for eight years.  During that time I went to McCormick Seminary in Chicago and received a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching.  I served as the lead pastor at Storm Lake United Methodist before coming to Winterset.

Welcome!  Please come join us in Worshiping and Serving God.
